Mental Health and Wellbeing: The Epicentre of Human Potential

Our state of mind can lead us to the make-or-break point of our potential.

Often, when we are in a healthy state of mind, we flourish in every aspect of our lives.

However, when we’re not in a healthy state of mind, we struggle, and this often leads to self-suffering, which not only affects our wellbeing, but the situations and people around us as well.

An unhealthy state of mind affects things such as our daily work, hobbies, peace, sleep, and most importantly, health. Notably, it can also disrupt our relationships with loved ones, and our interactions with people at work.

Our mind functions optimally when we are stress-free. However, our thinking gets clogged up when we are stressed because it focuses mostly on the problem, and so it just keeps circling around and around.

The first action you can take that will lead you towards change is being aware of this state.

I’d suggest you do a self-analysis of whether you’re happy or sad. If you’re happy, that’s great — but if you aren’t, then it’s time to act.

The second thing to do would be acknowledging it and then doing something about it. This means taking the necessary actions, such as, literally, get moving to do something about it, whether that means seeking help, or at least sharing your thoughts about the problem with someone.

Let me give an example of how to switch one’s brain from being problem-focused to solution-focused.

If there’s a deep hole on the walkway in front of you, rather than staring and applying all the focus and energy on it, think of how you would overcome it. You’d work to find solutions to get out of the sticky situation. You can do a long jump, or go around it, or find an alternative route to your destination, and so forth, to overcome this difficulty.

Focusing solely on a problem not only wastes your time but will also add unnecessary tension in your life, which will ultimately affect your wellbeing.

So, the next time you’re facing a problem, instead of using a problem-focused approach, please consider applying a solution-focused approach. It may just make a difference.

I really hope that helps. Thank you for reading this.
